Belated Turkey Day Update!

I completely forgot to update about my Turkey Day....

Friday I drove home (picking up Kyle on the way). He bought me an ice cap - I essentially forced him as a trade off for me having to stay in Guelph an extra day. Anyways, we essentially did nothing on Friday - other than stopping by to see the Nana and Bobbie.

Saturday I got stuck taking nana to the mall so she could buy this ugly fake flower thingy for my mom's gravestone... it is seriously ugly and I know my mom would have hated it... I mean it was so bad that Jason and I actually said that she is prolly up there rolling her eyes at us. I got some lovely bulk food candy and not much else (although I considered getting some Smallville seasons... which is a fair enough option for Christmas and such). Later that day me and the bros watched Jesus Camp (it is frightening, wonderfully done, and gives great insight into the evangelical movement that is currently changing the face of the United States - recommend it to all). Emily came over that night and we watch Premonition. It wasn't too bad but the ending made little to no sense. Bumber.

Sunday I watched Superman Returns (I wanted to see if it was as bad as what everyone says). It really isn't too bad. Yes, the plot is a little confusing to those who aren't familiar with the mythology. The main issue was Brandon Routh... he was absolutely horrible. To me he simply wasn't Superman or Clark Kent. Maybe I am so incredibly used to Tom Welling as Kent and Christopher Reeve... but frankly Routh didn't look convincing - he just didn't seem manly enough. Either way Kevin Spacey was great as Lex Luther and I loved Parky Posey as Kitty Kowalski. Kate Bosworth wasn't particularly good or bad. I loved the way Jimmy Olsen was portrayed... him and his bowtie and his childish tendencies. It was too funny for words. Sunday night we watched 2 new episodes of the Trailer Park Boys... man is that show funny.

Monday we went to my uncle and aunt's for dinner. I have to admit that it felt weird not having Thanksgiving at home. I guess that is simply phase one of 'holidays without mom.' It is sort of the first official one. I mean she wasn't around for Easter but she was still alive. I have this bad feeling that Christmas is going to be hard, very hard. I already intend to decorate the house (my dad said he wasn't going to bother but he said I could if I wanted to). I also plan on making a lot of the cookies and squares she made and host my usual Holiday Secret Santa Party.

On a much lighter and less depressing note - Kat has put out the feelers for a Reading Week trip to NYC. My dad already gave the go ahead for it and said he'll look into the whole renewal of my passport. Nothing is set in stone of course but I am already pondering which Broadway Show I want to see (oh Kat - check out Spring Awakening - I have seen some cast performances and it looks amazing!).

Anyways, I better get lunch and packing - my friend Sarah arrives here at 3:30 to pick me up for our fun filled field trip to Goderich (Thurs-Sat).
